Assemblyman Stirpe provides an opportunity of a lifetime

Al Stirpe sponsored this bill that allows a person to become a head coach who is unable to perform CPR due to physical disabilities, when paired with a staff member who is CPR-certified.

Josh Virgil who is paralyzed from the waist down has served as an assistant coach for Fabius-Pompey’s varsity men’s baseball team since 1999. Previously the law stated that an individual must be CPR-certified to hold a head coaching position in a New York school. Josh had been prohibited from becoming a head coach under the previous law.
His story is an inspiration to the young people that he coaches.
